Served in World War II – overseas in Europe. He was in the 65th Signal Battalion, Headquarters Company. He was responsible for the company motor pool, the fuel and general supply trucks, hauling fuel and supplies, as well as driving the company commander’s jeep.
The 65th Signal Battalion was a United States Army unit that primarily served during World War II, constituted on May 11, 1942, and activated on April 1, 1943 at Fort Lewis, Washington. This battalion is notable for its service in campaigns including the Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
